Summary
In this song, a woman hopes to marry the ploughman she loves. She could have married a miller, but the mill dust would have made her ill. Likewise, she might have married the merchant, but his wares are not worth much. The singer's hope is realised, and she marries the ploughman.
Elizabeth Stewart learned the song from her Aunt Lucy.
