Biography

1921-2008
Born in Lerwick and raised in Tingwall, Shetland. He was headmaster at Anderson High School. An expert on Shetland dialect, literature and folk life, he authored and edited many works, including the anthology 'Nordern Lichts' (1964, with T. A. Robertson) and 'The Shetland Dictionary' (1979).
