Summary - This waulking song has been sung in three sections with repeats of the chorus dividing the sections. In the first section, the composer states that she was at the sheiling last night, wondering why her lover was not coming. The second section tells how a stranger came and tried to lie beside her. She struck him and pushed him away. In the third section of the song, the composer asks a traveller to take her good wishes to her lover, and to tell him she is well. This is followed with advice to a young man on how to behave in an inn.
