Summary - The popularity of folk songs.

Folk music is popular with people of all ages and types. Folk music has developed hugely since 1960. Many new songs have been composed in traditional style. Archie Fisher always has new songs. Even songs by Burns that were unknown to recent generations are coming out. Individual songs are cyclical in popularity. Some, such as CND [the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament] or anti-apartheid songs are topical for a while.
