Geàrr-chunntas - Calum Ruadh Nicolson's role as a bard.
Calum Ruadh Nicolson acted as a spokesman when he composed 'Blàr Chùil Lodair' [The Battle of Culloden] - he listed the clans which took part. In his song about the Battle of the Braes he was speaking on behalf of the crofters who were there (his forebears). He recites an English poem about crofters.
Highlanders do not claim Calum as their spokesman because they are anglicised and because he is still living. Perhaps he will be seen as a spokesman for his generation in the future.
Calum discusses people's attitudes to his song about the Paris Peace Conference. He sang in various villages in Skye at one time.
