Geàrr-chunntas - The Tree of Life and the Old Road of Lumphanan have memories of childhood for Stanley Robertson.
There is a tree near the Old Road of Lumphanan that Stanley Robertson calls the Tree of Life, because when he was a child and they camped there his mother told him that if he lived a good life he would grow up big and strong like the tree. He describes the view from where he stands. The road was much used by the old Travellers. He remembers sitting there with other children listening to tales and being entranced, surrounded by the beauties of nature. He lists the flowers and trees seen there in the summer. He feels that the spirits of the old Travellers are present there.
