Geàrr-chunntas - Reading cards; the Tarot; Traveller and Mormon beliefs about the Devil and spirits.
There is a Traveller superstition against putting shoes on a table, which will bring on a premature birth. All Travellers could read cards. Stanley Robertson talks about the meanings of the different suits and of particular cards. He regards Tarot cards as evil. He describes a dream he had about the Tarot. He was offered fame and fortune, but at a price, and had to choose which way to go at a crossroads. He reads a poem that he wrote afterwards, 'The Crossroads o Tarot'.
Travellers believe the Devil comes in the shape of a goat, bull or ram. Stanley talks about his own Mormon beliefs and about the Bible story of legions of spirits.
