Biography

1933-1977
Born in Glasgow where he was a school teacher. His mother Ishobel was from Skye and his father Duncan was from Lewis. Josh MacRae's actual name was Iain MacRae but he was nicknamed Josh when he was at art school in Glasgow (after Josh White whose guitar-playing style he adopted) and was known as Josh thereafter.
