Biography

Chrissie MacNeil (Criosaidh Sheumais Lachlainn) was born in Inverness in 1910, one of a family of seven. Her parents were Donald MacNeil (Dòmhnall Ruadh) of Barra, and Sarah MacDonald of Fort Augustus. Her father Donald died when she was only three years old, and following this the family were split up. Chrissie and her older brother Donald were sent to live in Barra with an uncle, subsequently spending the rest of her life there.

She married Eoin MacNeil and they lived at Northbay, Barra. Chrissie passed away in 1991.
