Summary
A macaronic song and an account of emigrants' experiences in Canada.
The contributor sings a macaronic song about a dance in Kingussie. He learnt the song from his mother. She had many songs, particularly waulking songs. The contributor last saw a genuine waulking in Canada around forty years ago [said in 1979], but people used to sing waulking songs at cèilidhs and concerts. People used to make their own entertainment. He recounts a humorous story about his father making a tether for the cow from grass.
