The early life of Mary Brooksbank.

Mary Brooksbank was in service in Wormit for a time. Information on her book and on Ewan MacColl. Description of the first strike she ever saw, the famous Dundee Carter's Strike in 1911. Her mother was Catholic; her father, Alexander Soutar, Protestant. They had ten children, of whom five survived. Mary was the second oldest and she looked after the younger ones when she wasn't working. Information on her father's jobs and his involvement with the dockers' union and the people he met. Mary Brooksbank met John Maclean in the 1920s, before he founded the Socialist [sic] Workers Republican Party.
