Donald Sinclair is descended not from the Caithness Sinclairs but the Barra Sinclairs. His distant ancestor was a Barra man called MacNeil who married a Barra woman called Sinclair. They came to a vacant croft in Tiree to avoid some trouble in Barra. They were joined by Brian Sinclair from Barra, another direct ancestor of Mr Sinclair's, who married a Tiree woman called Ina MacNeil.
