Concerts, bioscope shows, and travelling theatres in Peebles in the late 19th century.
In Peebles in David Lawson's youth there were concerts twice a month in the winter, organised by two committees, and held in the parish church hall. The Co-operative also put on concerts. A man called Lumsden sometimes came from Edinburgh with a bioscope. Travelling theatres came too, and some quite well-known concert performers. For seven or eight summers there was a concert party in the bandstand belonging to Peebles Silver Band.
