Summary
Names of pools and streams on the Tweed.
David Lawson records the names of the pools and streams on the Tweed, some of which he has traced back to the beginning of the nineteenth century. They include the New Water, which was made when the banking opposite Traquair House was being washed away and the occupant had the river diverted. Another two names needed explanation. The 'Minnie' was short for 'The Minister's Pool', and 'The Dooket' was 'The Dovecote'.
