The Misses McGaw went by mail-coach to Stranraer for music lessons every week. Mr Craigie Irvine drove the stagecoach and Mr Ally Preston drove the mail-coach, which also took passengers and was quicker, though each had two horses. The trip took three hours and cost half a crown.
