Summary
In this song the bard tells the tale of what happened when he came ashore on the Broomielaw. He met a woman there who gave him a warm welcome. She said that he could drink something better than whisky if he went to a room with her. He drank too much and when he woke up he was on a pavement and didn't have a penny in his pocket.
