Summary
In this song a man is very sad. Although he was out hunting there is now nobody to welcome him home. He laments the death of his wife who now lies in a coffin. His heart is in despair because his beloved has died.

This song was composed by the bard Ailean Dall after the death of a woman called Betty MacDonald who lived in Lochaber. He makes the song as if it were the woman's husband speaking.
