Summary

A Hogmany custom. This yearly custom was held in the first week of the New Year. The boys would dress up with masks made of wool, women's clothing, etc., and go from house to house collecting food and money for a party. Inside each house they would walk around the fire about seven times. The leader would wear a hard calfskin and recite a rhyme, whilst the others beat the skin with tongs. The rhyme is recited.
