This is a story that Stanley Robertson heard from his sister-in-law Annie [Low?]. It was one of many supernatural experiences that happened to her as a girl in Ireland.
When she was about fifteen, Annie was sent from the camp to the nearest farm to get milk. She heard loud noises and saw two giants, twenty feet high and dressed in old-fashioned Irish clothes, chained together and fighting with swords. Annie told the farmer what she had seen and he said the giants had lived centuries ago. They used to fight even after the local people chained them when they were asleep. They returned once a year, and had been seen by many people.
