Summary

The bard does not like living in Glasgow. The noise, the smog, the cold, the dirt and the poverty are intolerable to him. He does reflect, however, that the city has some attractions, such as theatres, cinemas and shops. In spite of these attractions, he does not wish to remain there. He would rather be in Trotternish, where there is no shortage of peat, listening to the song of the mavis.
