There was no source of drink on Vatersay. Men would go across to Barra to drink, and some of them were lost from boats when they were coming home drunk. Morag Fisher's grandfather, Uilleam Boyd, went drinking every week. Mention of the portrayal of Barra in the film 'Whisky Galore'. There was a lot of drinking done on Barra during the Second World War, but Morag Fisher was away by that time.
