Summary
Traditional singers; performing with Willie Scott.
Ray Fisher discusses Jeannie Robertson's singing of 'What a Voice'. [Break to change tape.] She talks about how she met Willie Scott. Hamish Henderson's ceilidhs in the 1960s brought together the leading traditional singers. Ray describes the quaint appearance of Jimmy MacBeath. Scott, as a shepherd, stood out for his quality of dignified serenity. Ray tells an anecdote about Jean Redpath driving him around the United States. Ray realised that it would be helpful to drive him around within Britain, and they performed together when he was in his 80s. Ray learned his songs, partly to help him if he forgot the words.
