Summary
A man's love song for the girl he left behind when he set off to sea. He often looks west, to where the sun sets. He laments that he wasn't on the beach by the roaring sea, listening to the soft words of his beautiful young beloved. He reflects on the time they spent together on that beach before he took to sea, and bids her farewell. When he turned his back on her his eyes were brimming with tears, and even though he was at the wheel, steering the ship, his eyes were looking back at her.
