"Phaisg mi thu an craiceann caorach, ’s dh’fhàg mi nad aonar thu an dèidh an òrain"

Lewis-based Gaelic Artist, Mairi Gillies spent some time in 2021 as artist in residence with Tobar an Dualchais. During this period she researched recordings from the Uig area of Lewis and conducted her own fieldwork. She then explored the surrounding environment to create new connections with the local community. As part of this residency Mairi has developed a new piece of work based on one particular story of a piper from Uig. This online talk will give insights into how art can engage sensitively with Gaelic communities and shed new light on stories from our past.

The talk will be online via Zoom on Wednesday 2 March from 1.00-2.00pm. It is part of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig's lunchtime seminar series - join this Facebook event to attend.

This residency is part of a collaboration between ATLAS Arts and Tobar an Dualchais.
