In search of the eternal home
‘The happy hunting grounds’. That’s how An Dachaigh Bhuan is sometimes translated, but more exactly it means ‘The eternal home’, which is a hopeful way of expressing the afterlife. Having reached that age when I receive more notices of deaths than I do of births, happy hunting grounds take on particular significance: especially just recently with the passing The Brigadier.
Barra and South Uist Community Events
Tobar an Dualchais held two community events between March and April: a concert in Barra organised in collaboration with Castlebay Community School, singer Claire Frances MacNeil, and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig’s music students and an event in South Uist in which a selection of recordings from the south end of the island were played. The events were funded by Creative Scotland through the Maoin nan Ealan Gàidhlig fund, which is supported by Fèisean nan Gàidheal.
