North Uist crofters helping each other.
In Kyles Paible, North Uist, shareholders helped one another a great deal. They all worked together to roof a building. If one crofter was behind with the harvest, the others would give him a hand. They all gathered together to cut peats. They spent a day doing each crofter's bank. The same applied to all kinds of work.
