Description of resurrectionists' cart; watch kept in churchyard to guard body.
Jack Cockburn's great great grandfather on his father's side lived in Duns. One night a man came to the door to ask directions. He pulled his wife away from the door and slammed it shut. He had caught sight of a dog-cart with the wheels wrapped in cloth and the horse with muffled hooves. He assumed it was a resurrectionist's cart. There had been trouble with them in the area. He had to sit up in the churchyard at Preston for days until his own grandfather's body was safe from resurrectionists. He was Peter Brown, and is buried in Preston old churchyard.
