Story about a witch who transforms herself into a hare and is shot by locals.
Nan Marshall recalls a story passed down from her great-grandfather's time (around 1820 or 1830). A local witch was reputed to be able to transform into animal forms, including a hare, and would engage in all sorts of mischief. The locals were unhappy and decided to do something about it. Some men went out one night and shot at an unseen disturbance. The next day, they found the witch in bed with a gunshot wound.
