This is a humorous and satirical song, directed at those who believed in ghosts. In it, the bard tells of meeting the Old lady of Stadhlaigh, a very big and ugly ghost which he fights.
Four verses and choruses sung. Transcribed in the School of Scottish Studies.
The fight is described in great detail in the full text. The song was composed by Iain MacMhathain (Iain mac Choinnich 'ic Fhearchair) of North Uist, who was well known as a composer of hymns.
