Summary
The song tells a story about one of Nelson's sailors who loses his leg, and his pipe and tobacco, in battle. The surgeon finds a wooden leg from one of the slain, fits it to him and he is instantly fit to fight again.
Mr Strachan heard the song when he was four or five from his mother's cousin, who had returned form India, and also from a Dr Greig.
