Summary
Joke about a sheepdog sent for the ram and trying to round up the minister.
George Jamieson introduces his story about a Border shepherd's dog.
A shepherd had a particularly good collie dog, Hemp. A gentleman came to his house to see what it could do. The shepherd sent Hemp to bring in four hoggs [yearlings], then four yowes [ewes]. Then he sent it for the tup. It had a long way to go, so they went into the house to wait. Time passed and no Hemp. The dog was eventually brought back by the police: it had been chasing the parish minister.
