Summary

Anecdote about an Irish navvy who was rightly superstitious about destroying a boulder associated with legend.

A huge lump of granite had to be moved during road construction, but an Irishman wouldn't do the blasting, as this stone was one of a pair on either side of the kyle [straits] supposed to have been thrown by two giants during an argument. The man who did the job lost some fingers in the process. The Irishman was delighted to be proved right.
