Summary

William Robertson as an entertainer in the Army; part of a song he composed.

William Robertson, Stanley's father, was asked to sing in a musical play while he was in the Army. He was a great success and was asked to make up his own act for the entertainment group. He composed a song, part of which Stanley sings. It had a refrain which imitated the Arab-like singing William heard in Salonika, Greece, and became popular with the soldiers. William also replaced the big drummer in the pipe band for a year.

When the Scottish soldier man, he goes oot to mak a plan,
