Summary
A man's love song; a lament for his sweetheart, Mairead. His mother disapproved of his choice of sweetheart and when he saw Mairead going out to the river, she told him that she had seen a lovely wild duck on the river which he should go and hunt. He was deceived, however, and discovered that he had shot his sweetheart instead.
