Summary
The lines sung here belong to a waulking song which refers to a military expedition to Holland.
Item Notes
The contributor learned this song from her father Donald MacArthur, a sea captain from Caolas, Tiree. John Lorne Campbell noted that the song may well refer to the expedition to Holland in 1799 in which the Gordon Highlanders (the 92nd Regiment) took part.
