Summary

Recited fragments of a song about Mochrum Bone Mill:

My name is Dick [Dowland?], I'm a blacksmith to trade,
For there's none in this country that can me succeed,
But when I'm far awa, ye'll remember me still,
It was me made the song on the Mochrum Bone Mill.

For the loch lies at the Elrig right well I do know,
And the clear crystal water down from it doth flow.
Corn, wheat and barley I'm sure she can shill [husk]
And the same wheel that drives it, drives the Mochrum Bone Mill.

Bob Adair recalls that further verses described the Routledge family, who owned the mill; he believes the song was composed by the blacksmith mentioned in the first verse.
