Item Notes
'The Deserter', which Hamish Henderson asks for at the start of the track, is sung on a later track on the same tape (SA1954.089).
Sometimes associated with an Australian song first appearing in the twentieth century, this seems to be rather older. There are nineteenth century broadside versions in the Bodleian Library.
