Summary
A song of longing and nostalgia for the bard's homeland. He praises the beauty of the island and names such places as Muirneag and the hills of Barvas.
Item Notes
The composer was Alasdair Nicolson (Billy an Fhiosaiche), from Lionel, Ness, Isle of Lewis. He emigrated to America and spent much of his life there. His homesickness for his homeland comes through very clearly in the song. He did, however, return home to Ness before he died in 1916.
